07 Apr PEI AWP Teams with Potato Board and Local Watershed Groups to Restart Real-Time Weather Monitoring Network
The PEI AgriWatershed Partnership has teamed up with the PEI Potato Board and local watershed groups to re-establish the real-time weather monitoring stations initially set up by the UPEI Climate Lab.
A total of 30 stations distributed around the Island were brought back on-line, with upgrades and repairs done by Don Jardine of DE Jardine Consulting doing the work with the help of various local watershed groups. The goal is to use the stations to provide real-time weather date to users and eventually use the network to provide a comprehensive Agri-Weather dashboard that will assist farmers and others make decisions on a variety of farm operations in a more efficient and timely manner, with the potential for reducing applications of crop protectants and reducing their carbon footprint.
